Dinner Date with Stevie

So Thursday Stevie texted me asking me if I wanted to join him for dinner. Since the whole issues with his car, we hadnt been making our weekly appointments for dinner so I was delighted to get back on track. We always have a lot of fun (well, at least I laugh a lot at his quirkyness lol) and its always enjoyable company. We were having a hard time deciding on where to go. He really wanted Chinese food, but since I ate Lucky's chinese with the Matsons a month or so ago and got REALLY sick I have been uninterested in chinese lol. However I was willing to go to an actual CHINESE FOOD RESTAURANT that would be less... nasty fast food style? lol. So we searched and searched on yelp for something that met our criteria. We decided we wanted to try something new. The decision?

Fu Wing Low
It had pretty good reviews and was located nearby. There were very few negative comments, and the lowest score was a 2 star. So in my opinion... thats really good haha. People on Yelp.com are crazy about their food critisims so I took it that this was one of the only chinese food (well it wasnt really chinese food in the typical sense. It was "Cantonese" and "Szechuan" food. The owner who is a well known staple in this little tiny restaurant is a VERY OLD asian man named "Kenny" who was very sweet and sat us right away with a very big grin on his face. I had read many reviws about this old man on yelp so it was cool to see him and know he totally lived up to his rep haha.
We started out we some tea. I only had a little bit as it was not a kind of tea I am suposed to be drinking as a pregnant woman (and other reaons lol)... but I wanted to taste it for the expirience of the place. HEre is Stevie pouring our tea. He is as graceful as a geisha right? lol.

Next we got the choice of "Hot & Sour" soup or "Egg Flower" soup. Stevie had the egg flower soup and he finished it all so I am assuming he really liked it to. Here he is enjoying his soup. I was taking all the pics, thats why they are all of him haha.

This was my soup. I chose the Hot&Sour and it was yummy. It only had tofu in it which was disappointing because I enjoy the kind that has tofu, chicken, and shrimp in it. But oh well. It was still very yummy. Warms the soul.

Next we had our appetzers which were 2 egg roll (I forgot to take a picture before we woofed them donw haha) and this steamed meatball things in a dough. I forget what they are called. It didnt look good but Stevie promised me it tasted much better then it looked so I, again, trying to take in the entire expirience ventured into the unknown and had a bite. Suprisingly? It was really yummy haha. I didnt get a picture until I had already cut into the weird looking this but it was originally completely covered in the yellow dough.

This was our main course. The one we chose had Chicken chow mein, some type of white chicken with veggies in a clear sause, and sweet & sour pork. We each had a cup of rice (Stevie had fried, I had steamed) and we divied up the food. It was all really yummy. I wasnt a huge fan of the white chicken, but thats because I liked the chicken chow mein & pork so much lol.
After we ate everything we busted open our fourtune cookies. The first one is my fortune. "Soon, a visitor shall delight you" and the first 2 numbrs are 05 08 which happen to be my official due date from the early dating ultrasound lol. I thought that was interesting.
The second fortune is Stevies "You are next in line for promotion". Thats funny... he was just promoted to Shift Lead and we were talking about how its not a far climb from there to management. haha.
It was only $20 for the entire meal (we both drank waters aside from the tea) and that included the tip. It was an excellent deal, very nice people, and the food wasnt to shabby. It wont be a regular on my list but I wouldnt mind an occasional visit to the Fu Wing Low.
