everything

I suck at blogging this week. There has been an "event" almost every day that David or I say "dont forget to Blog this" (ya, we are that nerdy) and then i never blog it. I am a slacker!! The Matson’s who haven’t had a power cord for their computer are blogging more then me... lol. Reading her (Megan’s) blog made me remember that I should update our blog. (update... while I am writing this The Johnsons updated their blog too lol. IM SUCH A SLACKER!)

So its already Friday. This week has gone by very fast. It helped that Monday was a holiday so the week was short. Can you believe February is more then 1/2 gone? Today is the 19th... and there are only 28 days in Feb!! 10 more days and its March (which happens to be the month I graced the world with my presence). My only beef with the month of February is the 2nd pay period. Most pay periods I work at 88 hours (with the occasional 80 hour or 96 hour pay period thrown in). HOWEVER once a year, in the 2nd half of LOVELY February... we have a 72 hour pay period. So when I’m used to receiving a check worth 88 hours... I get 16 hours shorter. Now that’s almost a $300 deficit lol. I wouldn’t care so much... IF OUR CAR REGISTRATION WASNT DUE IN THE BEGINING OF MARCH! lol. Of course right? David and I each owe about $280 for our car registration by the 2nd week of March. This happens to be the time we get our pay from the crappy pay period. lol. This is why it is SO IMPORTANT to have a budget. Lucky for me, we put money aside each month ($20 each) in the "car registration" tab of our budget lol. So we have already put $480 aside for registration so we only need to add like $80 to it. Which reminds me -- Reconfigure budget to accommodate the states outrageous increases so that next year we put aside how much we need so we dont end up having to add money to the pot.

This last weekend was fun. It was a 3 day weekend (like I said earlier) and we had meticulously planned out everything we were going to accomplish throughout the weekend. Well... we crossed ONE item off the extensive list. Cleaned our room and cleaned out David’s clothes. I am a Target kind of girl... I can wear a plan unlabeled t-shirt and be perfectly content. However as we went through David’s clothes I realized what a label "whore" he was lol. We got rid of like volcom clothing and hurley and split and lost... AND SOME STILL HAD TAGS!!! lol. WHAT!? So some lucky teenage boy will be going to their local thrift store soon sad that they dont have enough money to shop somewhere else only to be ecstatic to find that he will be the trendiest kid on the block thanks to David’s spending habits. So everything else we planned to do didn’t quite make it but that’s okay. Friday we hit up Disney with the Matson’s, Saturday we went shopping and to breakfast with the Matson’s and Johnsons, Sunday we were lazy and I dont remember exactly what we did other then church (it was Valentines) and then Monday we cleaned our room and then I read my book while David did homework and then we took the pups to the Dog Beach with the Johnsons and their furbaby Harbor.

However THIS weekend we mean business. I am running out of "weekends" to do things so I am putting my foot down lol.
This weekend we need to:
-Clear out Adella’s room and paint it completely. NO MATTER WHAT.
-Pack away stuff we don’t need to keep out into bins and put in the storage.
-Clean our bathroom out completely (it smells)
-Clean the dogs area out completely (it smells too)
-Start moving stuff we don’t use at the moment upstairs to our new room

So tonight we need to get the paint and wash the walls in Adella’s room. Then move out the furniture into the office. If we aren’t to tired we will tape off the walls.
Tomorrow we need to tape off the walls if we didn’t do it the night before and then paint the walls. I will help David paint as much as I can. While I am not helping him I will work on cleaning our bathroom and the dogs area since that’s simple stuff.

Sunday we can relax and do homework.
If there is time in there and we aren’t to worn out then we need to put away some of the stuff in the closet (non clothing related) into bins and move to the play house or garage.
So that’s our plan. We NEED to stick to it. So any friends that are reading this... if we dont answer your calls or we say no to any plans... its because we are on a freaking mission! lol. Chances are though that someone will want to do something and we will abandon all thought of our goals and go out leaving this crud to be done another time... ahhhh! I hope not lol.

In there I also have our hospital tour, the "New Dad Boot Camp" that David is attending through Kaiser and the breastfeeding and infant care class both David and I are attending through Kaiser. I dont have the dates written down in front of me so I cant add them to my schedule yet. Those should be fun. I was going over classes and David basically volunteered himself for the "Daddy Boot Camp" class. It just makes me feel really good that he cares enough to want to "prepare" himself. I’m not saying you have to read books or go to classes to prepare yourself... but it just is nice to see him showing initiative with all of this.
OOO! He asked me if he could cut the umbilical chord. I just assumed Id tell the doc to do it since David basically passes out upon entering hospitals or doctors offices lol. But he ASKED! lol. He is starting to get really excited. He like keeps making comments and saying like "AHH ONLY 10 WEEKS!!" and stuff. I think he is starting to feel more like a "impending father" and realize that he’s about to be Adella's dad rather then "well, my wife is pregnant" mentality.
Oh and David’s boss is setting up and interview with him for an Underwriting position. PLEASE pray that this works out for him. If all goes well, and he is accepted and completes the training and everything... The pay increase should allow for me to stay home without worry. As it stands right now I am going back to work 10 weeks after la bebe is born. We found an amazing daycare with a sweet Christian woman who has amazing practices and the price is so reasonable. Plus is EXTREMELY local. YAY! So we will be going that route until things work out for me to stay home permanently in a way that will still allow us to reach or financial goals. That or I will work until we are expecting #2 and then I will become a SAHM from there on out. David "only" needs to make $75k a year to cover our ideal budget and allow us to reach our goals. You figure that if he makes $75k a year and you factor in 30% to go to taxes you are bringing home about $4600 a month. That is enough to cover ALL of our bills and allotted budget while allowing $1500 for rent and $400 into savings. Now while we are living and grandpas that means we would be able to put away about $1900 a month into savings which would eventually become a down payment on a home/town home/condo and the "rent" would turn into a smaller mortgage. Clearly I could cut it way down but like I said... "ideal" lol.
So much easier said then done lol. I can budget a plan like there is NO tomorrow... but the follow through and execution is like darn near impossible lol. AHHH! Anyways... pray for David that he has good success with this interview and stuff. So that maybe we can be successful in our budgeting endeavors and live a carefree life. (right, lol.)
Our baby furniture will arrive on March 3rd. WOO HOO! I want the room completely painted and ready because I know the moment arrives I will want David to put it together lol.
We went with black furniture (like we always planned). We got the 4-1 convertible crib (goes from crib to toddler bed to day bed to full sized bed) which is actually a baby shower gift from my grandfather and then David and I bought the mattress and we also bought a glider + ottoman. We were going to use the antique ottoman but David wanted me to have my own and something that went with the nursery decor. It was a great sale so we couldn’t resist. We spent under $450 on all the furniture in the babies room (we painted an old dresser and a bookshelf to match so those were free other then paint) and technically David and I only spent $275 since the crib was a gift. We have a cradle, we have a crib, we have a dresser & changer, we have a bookshelf, we have a glider and ottoman, we have the bedding... we just need to put everything together lol. We will be buying the "bob revolution" stroller shortly, my mom is getting the car seats for us, and all the odds and ends we will get after we see what we still need after the shower(s).

Speaking of baby showers...
Kisha's baby shower is in 2 weeks! I cant believe that she is already 33 weeks!! lol. I know that as she hits milestones I know that I better buck up because I’m only 24 days behind her lol. I cant wait to go over to their house and see their new tinkerbell nursery! I guess it runs in the "Matson" blood to love Disney lol.
Alright. Other then the fact that I got pulled over by a cop for speeding at 50mph... in a 55!! lol. The cop realized his error and let me go lol. It was classic. Oh and my dogs have somehow learned to be liars lol. They got their treaty bag, ate all the treats, and then heard me coming so they put it in their “bed” bucket and were pulling a blanket over it. I noticed them doing this which I found weird so I grabbed the blanket and found ALL the things they hide from me lol. My dogs have learned to hide their transgressions from me!! I didn’t even know dogs were capable of that type of thought process lol.
Okay... work to do!!
